Social Network Roots

I'm throwing in the towel.

I'm waving a white flag.

I can't do it any longer.

There isn't enough time in one day.

Since I began working full-time in August of 2008 I have found it extremely difficult to keep up on the social network side of life. I am absolutely overwhelmed with Facebook and Twitter at the moment. I love the meeting up with old friends, chatting with people from high school, and laughing at different status reports, I just don't have the time.

When I was just a blogger, social networking was a breeze. I'd write a blog, read blogs, comment on blogs, search other blogs on sites where I was a frequent visitor, and engage in the world of blogging with every ounce of web social energy I possessed.

I now fall short.

I can't keep up. The night hours aren't long enough and I work during the day. I miss just hanging out in the blog world, knowing what was going on with my bloggy friends.

I've decided to take a break from the hustle and bustle of social networking and return to my roots - blogging.

I already feel better.

Yeah, it gets a little tricky, doesn't it. I have told people in my life, "I'm mainly a blogger, so sometimes I don't check Facebook for days" to set their expectations. Also, when you're on FB and someone is IMing you, you have to be polite for a while and then excuse yourself. Not that I dont like IMing but sometimes it's not the best time. Blogging is always your best moment, or at least you totally choose the moment.

I hear that! Twitter's pretty easy - just sort of rolls by in the background and I can totally ignore it or tweet up when I want to.

But Facebook?!?! Wholly smokes! I honestly just pretend it's not even there.

And, honestly, I signed up for them both in order to benefit my blog, not take away from it. So, yay you!
